Jews Seeking Jesus Again - John 7:11

The apostle John wrote how Jesus told His brothers, “Go you up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come. When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret”, and in chapter seven and verse eleven of his book, John shared how, “the Jews sought him at the feast” where we read:

Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?

The verse reads,Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, ...” John began with the words, “then the Jews” or “at that time the people in the Jewish nation by origin, birth and religion” “sought him” which means “looked for, craved, demanded and required of Jesus” “at the feast” or “at the festival or holy-day”, “and said” which means “and uttered, declared, proclaimed and asked” the following question. John shared how the “Jewish people” were looking for Jesus at the “festival” and asked the following question.

The verse continues, “... Where is he?” John added the word, “where” which means “in what place or location” “is he” or “is Jesus”? John shared how the “Jewish people” wanted to know “where” Jesus was.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we see how there was a great desire among the Jewish people in Judaea to find Jesus at the “feast”. They assumed He would be there, and because many of them heard about Him or saw Him in the past, they desired to see Him again. God wants people to “seek” His Son Jesus, but He wants them to do so as their “Savior and Lord” rather than a person who only grants their desires and wishes. God wants a personal relationship with every person whereby they have fellowship with Him and He with them. God will supply all the needs a person has through His Son Jesus, and when they search for Him, let them do so not just for the benefits of material things, but also the blessings of a spiritual relationship with Almighty God.

Next time John shares how, “there was much murmuring among the people concerning him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
