A Lamb with One Hundred and Forty Four Thousand Revelation 14:1

John the apostle wrote, “and I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exercises all the power of the first beast before him, and causes the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And he does great wonders, so that he makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceives them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads. And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that has understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six, and in chapter fourteen and verse one of Revelation John saw how, “a Lamb stood on the mount Zion … with him an hundred and forty and four thousand” where we read:

And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Zion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

The verse reads, And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Zion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, ... John began with the words, “And I looked” which means “and John saw, noticed, discovered and discerned”, “and lo” or “and behold and see”, “a Lamb” or “little lamb” “stood” which means “was caused to stand, be placed, set and put” “on the mount Zion” or “upon Mount Zion which means a parched place and was the hill on which the higher and more ancient part of Jerusalem was built”, “and with him” which means “and alongside the Lamb” “an hundred and forty and four thousand” or “one hundred and forty four thousand people”. John watched as “a Lamb – which represents Jesus” and the “one hundred and forty four thousand” who are the “group of Jewish believers who minister during the great tribulation and are given a seal of protection throughout that period”.

The verse goes on to say, “... having his Father's name written in their foreheads. John continued with word, “having” which means “holding, owning and possessing” “his Father's name” or “the Lamb or Jesus' Father which is God's thoughts or feelings which are aroused in the mind by mentioning, hearing and remembering” “written” which means “delineated, expressed or formed with letters” “in their foreheads” or “upon the place above and between their eyes”. John saw how these “one hundred and forty four thousand” people were “sealed” or “marked” with God's signet seal.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we remember these “one hundred and forty four thousand” people who were “marked” with God's “signet seal” of ownership in Revelation chapter seven. This time they are seen with Jesus upon “Mount Zion” in Israel, and their significance and role shall be displayed. God desired to “seal” every person with His Holy Spirit through a relationship with His Son Jesus, and when they receive Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they shall be marked as one of His. May all who read these words consider the relationship between Jesus and the “one hundred and forty four thousand” and accept God's offer of “salvation” today.

Next time John, heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
