The Second Angel's Vial Revelation 16:3

As John continued to share concerning the events during the tribulation, He wrote about the antichrist, the false prophet and angels who were involved in the reaping of the harvest of believers who received the Lord Jesus during that time. John also wrote, seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles. And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who lives for ever and ever. And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled. And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth. And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshiped his image”, and in chapter sixteen and verse three of Revelation John saw how “the second poured out his vial upon the sea” where we read:

And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea;
and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.

The verse reads, And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; John began with the words, “and the second angel” which means “and the second of the seven messengers, envoys and ones sent from God's temple” “poured out” or “and shed forth, bestowed and delivered largely” “his vial” which means “the angel's broad shallow bowl” “upon the sea” or “on the large bodies of waters”. John watched as this “second angel” distributed his “bowl of God's wrath” upon the “great waters” of the earth.

The verse continues, “and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.” John added the words, “and it became” which means “and the great waters happened as, appeared and were made” “as the blood” or “as the bloodshed” “of a dead man” which means “of a lifeless, deceased, departed and inanimate person”: “and every living soul” or “and each, all, the whole and everyone of the living beings” “died” which refers to “became lifeless, deceased, departed and inanimate” “in the sea” which means “within the great waters”. John saw the effect of the “second vial” was for everything that was living in the great waters became dead because of the “blood” tainted waters.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we can imagine how horrific this “second vial” will be. All the waters, like in the days of Moses, will become as “blood”, and the living creatures within them shall die. Even as the “grievous sores” are upon the people who are living, the waters upon which they depend shall be putrefied and shall have death within them. God does not desire for people to go through these cataclysmic events, and by receiving His Son Jesus Christ as “Savior and Lord” a person shall avoid all of them. Let all who read these words know, the word of God is true, and these “vials” filled with God's wrath are spoken of before they are “poured out” so all may know the importance of receiving Jesus – now.

Next time John shares how the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
