Let Him with Ears - Hear Revelation 13:9

John the apostle shared how he, “stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshiped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, and in chapter thirteen and verse nine of Revelation John declared what “any man” who has “an ear” should do where we read:

If any man have an ear, let him hear.

The verse reads, If any man have an ear, ... John began with the word, “if” which means “for as much and whether” “any man” or “any certain person whether male or female” “have an ear” which means “has the physical capacity of perceiving with the mind, understanding and knowing”. John shared the charge for any person who has the “capacity” for understanding and perceiving.

The verse continues, “... let him hear John added the word, “let” which means “allow and permit” “him hear” or “that person whether male or female to attend, consider, understand and perceive”. John continued his thought as he challenged people who have the “capacity” to “understand and perceive” what he has written to actually practice doing so.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we see this interruption in the passage as a challenge to “understand and perceive” what is being written about the “antichrist” and “the devil” who provided his power. God desires for people to “listen” to His Spirit and be in a relationship with Him through His Son Jesus. These writings are warnings, and those who are wise and have the capacity to understand these things shall actually do so. Let all who read these words “hear”.

Next time John writes, “he that leads into captivity shall go into captivity”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
