Fear God and Give Glory to Him Revelation 14:7

After writing about the “beast or the antichrist” and “the dragon – the devil or Satan” being worshiped by people upon the earth, John the apostle wrote, “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people ..., and in chapter fourteen and verse seven of Revelation John saw the “angel” say, with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to himwhere we read:

Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

The verse reads, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; John began with the word, “saying” which means “uttering, declaring and proclaiming” “with a loud voice” or “with a great, large and abundant sound or tone”, “Fear God” which means “reverence, be in awe of, venerate and treat with deference or reverential obedience the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”, “and give glory” or “and bestow, grant, furnish and supply honor, splendor, brightness, magnificence, excellence, preeminence, dignity, grace and majesty” “to him” which means “to God”. John heard the “angel” cry out “loudly” to “reverence and glorify” Almighty God”.

The verse goes on to say, “ for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.John added the words, “for the hour” which refers to “because the certain definite time, season and moment ” “of his judgment” or “pertaining to God's sundering, justice, punishment and damnatory condemnation” “is come” which means “has appeared and arrived”: “and worship him” or “and kneel in prostration to do homage and make obeisance in respect and supplication to the One” “that made” which means “who formed, fashioned and created” “heaven” which refers to “the region above the sidereal heavens, the seat of order of things eternal and consummately perfect where God dwells and other heavenly beings”, “and earth” or “the arable land, country, territory and region”, “and the sea” which means “and the abundant and massive waters”, “and the fountains” or “the springs” “of waters” which refers to “waters in fountains, rivers, pools, the earth's repositories and rain”. John heard the “angel” proclaim how this was the “timing” for God's “judgment” to arrive, and He is the Creator of “heaven, the earth, the sea and the fountains of waters”.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we see how this “angel” was charged not only with carrying forth “the everlasting gospel”, but also to warn people that God, who made all things, was going to judge the earth and those who live within it. This announcement from the “angel” should frighten every person who does not know Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord” because the “doom” that will be pronounced and carried forth by God shall be upon all unbelievers at that time, and woe be to those people.

Next time John saw how, “there followed another angel saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
