Wonders with Fire Revelation 13:13

After writing about the “beast or the antichrist” and “the dragon – the devil or Satan” being worshiped by people upon the earth, John the apostle wrote, “If any man have an ear, let him hear.” John continued with the words, “He that leads into captivity shall go into captivity: he that kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exercises all the power of the first beast before him, and causes the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed”, and in chapter thirteen and verse thirteen of Revelation John shared how this second beast, “does great wonders” where we read:

And he does great wonders, so that he makes fire

come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

The verse reads, “And he does great wonders, ...” John began with the words, “and he does” which means “and the second beast or false prophet performs, causes, prepares and fashions” “great wonders” or “massive, large and abundant signs, marks or tokens”. John shared how the “false prophet” will be able to perform “abundant signs” or “miracles” when he arrives on the scene.

The verse continues, “... so that he makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,” John added the words, “so that he makes” which means “even and indeed the false prophet will cause” “fire” or “fiery fire as in lightning” “come down” which means “descend and to be sent down” “from heaven” or “from upper regions of the air or the vaulted expanse of the sky” “on the earth” which refers to “the arable land, country, territory or region” “in the sight” or “within the vision, presence and occupied place” “of men” which means “pertaining to people”. John shared how the “second beast or false prophet” will be able to make “fire” descend upon the people of the earth.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we see examples of the supernatural powers given unto this “second beast” or the “false prophet”. Not only will he perform miracles, but he will be equipped with the ability to call down “fire” from the sky. These powers are abnormal to man, but because he fits into God's plan, the “false prophet” shall have them. God desires through a relationship with His Son Jesus to keep people from experiencing the miracles like “fire” out of the sky from this “second beast”, and those who are wise shall not only read about Him, but align themselves with God's plan to keep themselves from him.
