The Great Dragon Cast Out of Heaven Revelation 12:9

John the apostle wrote how, “there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven”, and in chapter twelve and verse nine of Revelation John shared how the “great dragon was cast out” where we read:

And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

The verse reads, And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, ... John began with the words, “and the great dragon” which means “the massive serpent-like creature or Satan” “was cast out” or “was thrown, let go, scattered and poured out”, “that old serpent” which refers to “that old snake which was the sign of cunning and wisdom”, “called” or “named and bid forth as” “the Devil” which means “prone to slander and accusing falsely ” and is “the angel who opposed God and people”, “and Satan” or “adversary who incites apostasy from God and to sin”. John shared how “Satan, the Devil” was thrown out of “heaven”.

The verse goes on to say, “... which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. John added the words, “which deceives” which means “who causes to stray, leads aside from the right way into error and away from the truth” “the whole world” or “all and the complete inhabited earth”: “he was cast out” or “the devil was thrown, let go, scattered and poured out” “into the earth” which means “in the arable land, country, territory or region”, “and his angels” or “and the devil's demons” “were cast out” which means “were thrown, let go, scattered and poured out” “with him” or “alongside the great dragon – the Devil” . John saw how the “devil” was thrown out of heaven to the earth because he “deceives” and leads astray every person in the world.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we see how “Satan” is commanded and controlled by God. Though he attempted to rule in heaven, “Satan” was thrown to the “earth” along with his demons, and he was unable to prevail against “Michael and his angels”. This should assure everyone who encounters the “leading astray” of the “devil” that God has defeated him, and he is unable to control their lives unless they allow him. God desires to have a relationship with every person through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for their sins and was raised from the grave three days afterward, and when they align with Him, He becomes their strength over the “devil” and his wiles. May all who read these words know, “the great dragon” cannot prevail, and God is victorious over him and his army of demonic beings.

Next time John shares, now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
