The Fourth Angel's Vial Revelation 16:8

As John continued to share concerning the events during the tribulation, He wrote about the antichrist, the false prophets and the angels who were involved in the reaping of the harvest of believers who received the Lord Jesus during that time. John saw the first and second angel “pour out” their “vials”, and he wrote, “the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood. And I heard the angel of the waters say, you are righteous, O Lord, which are, and was, and shall be, because you have judged thus. For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink; for they are worthy. And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are your judgments”, and in chapter sixteen and verse eight of Revelation John saw what happened when “the fourth angel poured out his vial” where we read:

And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun;
and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.

The verse reads, And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; John began with the words, “and the fourth angel” which means “and the fourth messenger, envoy and one sent” “poured out” or “shed forth, bestowed and distributed largely” “his vial” which means “the angel's shallow bowl full of the wrath of God” “upon the sun” or “on the sun in the sky”. John watched as this “fourth angel” distributed his “vial”, and this time it was directed toward the “sun”.

The verse continues, “and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. John added the words, “and power” which means “strength, ability and ” “was given” or “was granted, bestowed, supplied and furnish” “unto him” which refers to “to the fourth angel” “to scorch men” or “burn and torture with intense heat”, “with fire” which means “with fiery heat like lightning”. John saw this “angel” given the “ability” to “burn” people with “fiery heat”.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we see the intensity of this “fourth” messenger from God. This time the “angel” directs his power toward the sun and was given the “ability” to “scorch” people with “fiery heat”. We can imagine how horrific this time will be for those who have “worshiped” the “antichrist”. God does not want people to suffer this terrible time, and He will “save” them when they receive His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”. One may wonder why anyone would desire to have intent “heat” and “scorching” come upon them, so woe be to those who ignore this warning.

Next time John shares how “men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
