John
the apostle shared how he, “stood
upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea,
having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and
upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And
the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as
the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the
dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And I
saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly
wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. And
they worshiped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they
worshiped the beast, saying, Who is
like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? And there was
given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and
power was given unto him to continue forty and
two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to
blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in
heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to
overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and
tongues, and nations”,
and in chapter thirteen and verse eight of Revelation John shared how
people shall worship the beast, “whose
names are not written in the book of life” where
we read:
And
all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him,
whose
names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the
foundation of the world.
The
verse reads, “And
all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, ...”
John
began with the words, “and
all”
which means “and each, every, the whole and every person” “that
dwell”
or “who live, abide, settle and inhabit” “upon
the earth”
which means “on the arable land, country, territory and region”
“shall
worship him”
or “will kneel, do homage to, make obeisance, crouch to and
prostrate themselves to adore the beast or antichrist”. John shared
how everyone on earth shall “adore and give homage to” the
“beast”
or
antichrist.
The
verse goes on to say, “... whose
names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the
foundation of the world.”
John
added the words, “whose
names”
which means “who have names which are used for everything which the
name covers, everything the thought or feeling of which is aroused in
the mind by mentioning, hearing and remembering that” “are
not written”
or “which are not delineated, formed or express in written
characters” “in
the book”
which means “within the roll or scroll of writing” “of
life”
or “pertaining to vitality and animation” “of
the Lamb”
which refers to “pertaining to the little lamb” “slain”
which means “slaughtered, butchered, put to death by violence and
mortally wounded” “from
the foundation”
or “in separation and distance to the conception, deposition and
founding” “of
the world”
which refers to “pertaining to the earth and universe”. People
who do not have their “names
written”
in God's “book
of life”
shall “worship and adore” the “beast
or antichrist”.
When
we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we see how the world
shall respond to the “antichrist” in worship. Those who have not
received Jesus Christ as their “Savior and Lord” will not have
their “names written” in His “book”, and they
will worship the antichrist instead. God reveals these things in
advance so all who read them will have an opportunity to receive His
Son Jesus, and he knows them even as He knew from the “foundation
of the world” whose names would be written in His “book of
life”. Those who reject His offer of salvation and live with
their pride shall one day “worship and adore” the “beast
or antichrist” who is empowered by the devil himself. Woe be to all
who follow that wicked manner of living.
