A Sea of Glass Mingled with Fire Revelation 15:2

As John continued to share concerning the events during the tribulation, He wrote about the antichrist, the false prophets and angels who were involved in the reaping of the harvest of believers who received the Lord Jesus during that time. In chapter fifteen and verse one of Revelation John wrote, And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God”, and in chapter fifteen and verse two of Revelation John “saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire” where we read:

And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.

The verse reads, And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: John began with the words, “and I saw” which means “and John perceived, noticed, discerned and discovered” “as it were” or “like or even as” “a sea” which means “a large body like water” “of glass” or “which was made of transparent like glass” “mingled” which means “mixed” “with fire” or “with fiery lightning”. John looked upon a huge body of “transparent glass” which had “fire” mixed within with it.

The verse continues “and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.John added the words, “and them” which refers to “and the people” “that had gotten the victory” or “who conquered, held fast to their faith even unto death against the power of their foes, temptations and persecutions, overcame and prevailed” “over the beast” which refers to “away from the fierce creature which represented the antichrist”, “and over” which means “and away from” “his image” or “the antichrist's figure, idol and representing resemblance”, “and over his mark” which means “and away from the antichrist's stamp, imprinted mark and brand upon their forehead or right hand”, “and over the number” or “and away from the number which was six hundred and sixty six” “of his name” which means “pertaining to the antichrist's character and everything which the name covers, everything the thought or feeling of which is aroused in the mind by mentioning, hearing and remembering”, “stand” or “placed, set, put, made firm and established” “on the sea” which means “upon the large body like water” “of glass” or “of transparent glass”, “having” which means “holding, owning and possessing” “the harps” which means “lyres or stringed instruments with which praises to God are sung in heaven” “of God” or “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. John watched as the people who refused to worship the “antichrist”, or receive his “mark”, “number” or “name” were upon the “sea of glass” holding instruments of praise.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we see this vast number of people who were able to resist giving in to the demands of the “antichrist” and the “false prophet”. Though they would give their lives to be “saved”, they trusted in Jesus Christ and rejected the “antichrist” and the “false prophet's” ways. God desires to “save” people in advance of this cataclysmic event, and by receiving His Son Jesus as “Savior and Lord”, all these things shall be avoided. However, if there be some reading these words during the tribulation period, “receive Jesus today”, do not accept the antichrist's “mark, number or name”, and you shall be among those who stand upon the “sea of glass mingled with fire” and prepared to worship God as He intended from the beginning.

Next time John sees these who had the “victory”, “sing the song of Moses the servant of God, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
