A Man Casting Seed into the Ground - Mark 4:26

Mark wrote how Jesus asked His disciples, “Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick? For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. And he said unto them, Take heed what you hear: with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. For he that has, to him shall be given: and he that has not, from him shall be taken even that which he has”, and in chapter four and verse twenty-six of his book, Mark shares how Jesus said the “So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground” where we read:

And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;

The verse reads, “And he said, So is the kingdom of God, ...” Mark began with the words, “and he said” or “and Jesus uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “so is the kingdom” which means “thus and in this manner is the rule, dominion, reign, royal power and kingship” “of God” which means “belonging to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Mark shared how Jesus began to give another agrarian example as to what the “Kingdom of God” is like.

The verse goes on to say, “... as if a man should cast seed into the ground;” Mark continued with the words, “as if a man” or “even like and similar to a person whether male or female” “should cast seed” which means “should scattered and throw plant growing seed” “into the ground” or “into the arable land, territory, dirt and earth”. Mark shared how Jesus said the “Kingdom of God” is similar to when a “sower” casts forth his “seed” toward the ground.

When we think through Mark's words in this verse, we see how Jesus is attempting to give another illustration for what “God's Kingdom” is like. Once again He employs the example of a “sower” sowing “seed”. Jesus shall say more about this in the next verses, but for now let it suffice to know that He is busy about sharing His “word” throughout the world. God loves everybody, and He wants them to be in a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus. Those who yield their lives to Him shall be forgiven of their sins and inherit “everlasting life” with God.

Next time Mark shares how Jesus says, “the seed should grow up, and he knows not how”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
