The Word through Many Such Parables - Mark 4:33

Mark wrote how Jesus asked, “Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth. But when it is sown, it grows up, and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it”, and in chapter four and verse thirty-three of his book, Mark shares how Jesus, “with many such parables spake he the word unto them” where we read:

And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.

The verse reads, “And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, ...” Mark began with the words, “and with many” or “and with a lot and great number of” “such parables” which means “similar earthly stories with heavenly meanings” “spake he the word” or “uttered, declared and proclaimed Jesus the decree, mandate or order” “unto them” which refers to “to the people who were listening to Jesus”. Mark shared how Jesus used “earthly stories” of all sorts with the people who were listening to Him.

The verse goes on to say, “... as they were able to hear it.” Mark continued with the words, “as they were able” or “as the people were capable and had ability” “to hear it” or “to perceive, understand and comprehend the word He was speaking”. Mark shared how Jesus presented His stories to people when they were capable of “hearing” them.

When we consider Mark's words in this verse, we see how Jesus knew the people with whom He was speaking. God loves people, and His desire is to have a relationship with everyone who will believe and trust in His Son Jesus. As they yield their lives to Him, Jesus will continually open their understanding to principles of the Kingdom of God. Those who are wise will submit themselves to Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord” and inherit not only the “stories” of God's Kingdom, but also “everlasting life” with God.

Next time Mark shares about Jesus, “without a parable spoke he not unto them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
