The Multitude Tells of Jesus' Mother and Brothers - Mark 3:32

Mark wrote how Jesus said, “All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost has never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation. Because they said, He has an unclean spirit.” Mark went on to write, “There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him”, and in chapter three and verse thirty-two of his book, Mark shares how “the multitude” told Jesus, “your mother and your brethren without seek for you” where we read:

And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him,

Behold, your mother and your brethren without seek for you.

The verse reads, “And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, ... Mark began with the words, “and the multitude” or “and the crowd and massive assembly of people” “sat about him” or “were seated around Jesus”, “and they said unto him” which means “and the crowd uttered, declared, proclaimed to Jesus”. Mark shared how a massive group of people surrounded Jesus and told Him the following.

The verse continues, “... Behold, your mother and your brethren without seek for you.” Mark added the word, “behold” which means “lo, look and see”, “your mother” or “Jesus' own mother” “and your brethren without” which means “and Jesus' own brothers” “seek for you” or “were looking for, craving and demanding Jesus”. Mark shared how Jesus' family were outside of the house desiring to see Him.

When we consider Mark's words in this verse, we notice how Jesus' family came to “retrieve” Him from this crowd. They were concerned with His popularity and because they really didn't understand who He was yet, they wanted to get Him away from these people. God's desire is to reach every person with His plan of “salvation” through His Son Jesus, and when a person recognizes Jesus for who He is, they will understand Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah sent from God.

Next time Mark shares Jesus asks, “Who is my mother, or my brethren?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
