Whosoever Shall Do the Will of God - Mark 3:35

Mark wrote about Jesus how, “There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him. And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, your mother and your brethren without seek for you. And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren? And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren”, and in chapter three and verse thirty-five of his book, Mark shares how Jesus tells what happens with,“whosoever shall do the will of God” where we read:

For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

The verse reads, “For whosoever shall do the will of God, ... Mark began with the words, “for whosoever” or “because, since and on account that whatever person male or female” “shall do the will” or “will desire, wish, choose and be inclined toward the pleasure” “of God” which means “belonging to the Godhead and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Mark shared how Jesus began to declare who were the participants in His family.

The verse continues, “... the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.” Mark added the words “the same” which means “the one who does God's will” “is my brother” or “is Jesus' brother”, “and my sister” which means “and Jesus' sister”, “and my mother” or “and Jesus' mother”. Mark shared how Jesus said those who obey God's will are His “family” which is comprised of “brothers, sisters and mothers”.

When we consider Mark's words in this verse, we see how Jesus declared the necessity for being in His family. “Doing the will of God” allows a person entrance into the “God's family”, and His will is to receive His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”. No one is able to keep the “law of God”, and because people violate it, they are sinners. Sin incurs the penalty of death, and rather than be in the family of God, those who sin are separated from Him. When Jesus “died on the cross”, He paid the price for the “sins” of every person, and those who “believe and trust” in Him shall have their “sins” forgiven and inherit “everlasting life” within the family of God.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see Mark shares how Jesus, “began again to teach by the sea side”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
