Nothing Hidden or Secret - Mark 4:22

Mark wrote how Jesus asked His disciples, “Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?”, and in chapter four and verse twenty-two of his book, Mark shares how Jesus tells His disciples, “there is nothing hid … neither was any thing kept secret” where we read:

For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested;

neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.

The verse reads, “For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested;” Mark began with the words, “for there is nothing hid” or “because, since and on account that not one thing is kept secret, concealed and private”, “which shall not be manifested” which means “that will not be made visible and realized whether by words, deeds or in any other way”. Mark shared how Jesus said nothing that has ever been done, seen or said will be kept “secret” and “hidden”.

The verse goes on to say, “neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.” Mark continued with the words, “nether was any thing kept” or “not even and in no way did one thing come into existence, begin to be and happen as a” “secret” which means “hidden, stored up and concealed”, “but that it should come abroad” or “moreover and that whatever it is will be made apparent, evident, plainly recognized and known”. Mark shared how Jesus said everything that was “hidden or concealed” will be made “apparent, evident and plainly recognized”.

When we meditate upon Mark's words in this verse, we see how Jesus declared “everything” to be open before God, and no one will “hide” or “keep secret” anything from Him. As the writer of Hebrews said, Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do” (Hebrews 4:13), and because God knows all, all sins and errors are known by Him as well. Jesus came to die for all the “sins” of the world, and those who receive Him as their personal “Savior and Lord” shall be forgiven even if they are “sins” which are “kept secret”. May all who read these words understand the importance of having Jesus not only “know” their “secret sins”, but also know He provides pardon for all of them.

Next time Mark shares how Jesus says again, “if any man has ears, let him hear”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
