Jesus' Own Did Not Received Him - John 1:11

John the apostle wrote how Jesus, “was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not”, and in chapter one and verse eleven of his book, John shared how Jesus, “came unto his own, and his own received him not” where we read:

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

The verse reads, “He came unto his own, ... John began with the words, “He came or “the Word or Jesus appeared, came forth and made entrance” “unto his own” which means “toward Jesus' people group who belonged to Him”. John shared how Jesus appeared to His own people, however, they responded in the following way.

The verse goes on to say, “... and his own received him not.” John continued with the words, “and his own” which means “and Jesus' people group who belonged to Him” “received him not” or “did not accept, acknowledge or associate with Him”. John shared how Jesus' “own” people did not “accept or acknowledge” Him.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we may marvel that Jesus' own people did not accept or acknowledge Him. This is sad. God so loves people, that He came as the “Word in the flesh” within Jesus, and people rejected Him. They continue to reject Him today, and yet know this, He came anyway. Anyone who yields their life to Jesus will be forgiven of their sins and inherit everlasting life with God, however, anyone who refuses to acknowledge Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” will discover He is God's only answer for salvation unto everlasting life with God.

Next time John shares, “as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
