In Psalms eighty nine Ethan the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “You have a mighty arm: strong is your hand, and high is your right hand. Justice and judgment are the habitation of your throne: mercy and truth shall go before your face”, and in chapter eighty nine and verse fifteen of Psalms Ethan said to Jehovah God, “blessed is the people that know the joyful sound” where we read,
Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound:
they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of your countenance.
The verse begins, “Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound:” Ethan began with the words, “blessed is the people” or “O how happy exist the human beings both male and female” “that know the joyful sound” which means “who perceive, understand, discern, distinguish and discriminate the blast, alarm or shout of joy, clamor and trumpet blowing”. Ethan said the “people” who are aware of the “blast and alarm of jubilee” exist as filled with joy and happiness.
The verse continues, “they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of your countenance.” Ethan added the words, “they shall walk” or “they, the people who know the joyful sound, will make their way, depart, proceed and amble about”, “O LORD” which means “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “in the light” or “within the illumination” “of your countenance” which means “belonging to your, Jehovah God's, front, face and presence”. Ethan said the people who “know the joyful sound” will make their way in the illumination of Jehovah God's face and presence.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how Ethan declared the people who “know the joyful sound” not only will be happy, but they also will proceed according to the illumination of Jehovah God's presence. In other words, Jehovah God will make clear the way of people who are aware of Jehovah God and His ways. God wants us to follow Him, and He sent His Son Jesus to be crucified for the sins of all mankind so we could be in a personal relationship with Him. When we yield our lives to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to know “the joyful sound” with His guiding presence in our lives.
Next time Ethan the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “in your name shall they rejoice all the day”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
