In Psalms chapter eighty five the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “You have taken away all your wrath: you have turned yourself from the fierceness of your anger. Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause your anger toward us to cease”, and in chapter eighty five and verse five of Psalms the Psalmist asked, “will you be angry with us forever?” where we read,
Will you be angry with us for ever? will you draw out your anger to all generations?
The verse begins, “Will you be angry with us for ever?” The Psalmist began with the words, “will you be angry with us” or “shall you, the Divine judge Jehovah God, exist as breathing hard against, displeased and enraged toward us, the Psalmist and the people of Israel” “for ever” which means “unto long duration, futurity, perpetuity, everlastingness and continuous existence”? The Psalmist questioned whether the Divine judge Jehovah God would be displeased and enraged toward him and the people of Israel unto perpetuity.
The verse goes on to say, “will you draw out your anger to all generations?” The Psalmist continued with the words, “will you draw out your anger” or “shall you, Jehovah God, drag along, proceed, march and continue breathing hard against your, Jehovah God's, displeasure, rage and fury” “to all generations” which means “toward each, every, the whole and everyone of the periods, ages and posterity”? The Psalmist questioned whether Jehovah God would continue to breath hard in fury and rage toward every age and posterity.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist wondered whether Jehovah God was going to continue to pour out His anger upon him and the people of Israel continually, and he questioned whether God would proceed with His wrath and fury to future ages. God's anger and wrath are poured out upon people who refuse and reject Him over and over again. He is long-suffering and patient with us, and He waits for us to receive His Son Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”. He sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from His wrath. (See 1 Thessalonians 5:9)
Next time the Psalmist asks Jehovah God, “will you not revive us again?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
