Wonders Known in the Dark? - Psalms 88:12

In Psalms eighty eight the Psalmist asked Jehovah God, “Shall your lovingkindness be declared in the grave? or your faithfulness in destruction?”, and in chapter eighty eight and verse twelve of Psalms the Psalmist asked, “shall your wonders be known in the dark?” where we read,

Shall your wonders be known in the dark? and your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

The verse begins, Shall your wonders be known in the dark? The Psalmist began with the words, “shall your wonders be known” or “will your, Jehovah God's, extraordinary marvels and miracles exist as perceived, discriminated, distinguished and discerned” “in the dark” which means “within the secret place or obscurity”? The Psalmist questioned whether the extraordinary miracles and marvels of Jehovah God would be perceived within a secret or obscure place.

The verse continues, and your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? The Psalmist added the words, “or your righteousness” or “and your, Jehovah God's, justice, righteous acts, truthfulness and justification” “in the land” which means “within the earth, country, territory, district and region” “of forgetfulness” or “pertaining to oblivion”. The Psalmist asked whether Jehovah God's justice and truthfulness would be put into oblivion within the territory or region in which he lived.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist questioned whether God's extraordinary miracles would be perceived if they were performed in a secret place and would God's justice and truthfulness be forgotten within his country and region. The Psalmist could not understand how God would perform miracles in obscurity, and if his country completely forgot Him, how would God's rightness and justice be known by people. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to openly invite everyone to receive His greatest miracle which was the saving of our souls. Paul the apostle wrote, “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (See Romans 3:23), and when we receive Jehovah God's invitation to believe and trust in Jesus we shall be forgiven of our sins and granted everlasting life with Him. For all eternity we shall enjoy the justice, rightness and marvelous works of God as we give Him praise, honor and glory for revealing Himself to us rather than hiding in obscurity.

Next time the Psalmist says, “unto you have I cried, O LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
