Will You Not Revive Us Again? - Psalms 85:6

In Psalms chapter eighty five the Psalmist asked Jehovah God, “Will you be angry with us for ever? will you draw out your anger to all generations?”, and in chapter eighty five and verse six of Psalms the Psalmist asked, “will you not revive us again?” where we read,

Will you not revive us again: that your people may rejoice in you?

The verse begins, Will you not revive us again: The Psalmist began with the words, “will you not revive us” or “shall you, Jehovah God, in no way or manner quicken, restore and sustain us, the Psalmist and the people of Israel” “again” which means “another time”? The Psalmist asked whether Jehovah God would quicken and restore him and the people of Israel another time.

The verse continues, that your people may rejoice in you? The Psalmist added the words, “that your people” or “so your, Jehovah God's, human beings both male and female” “may rejoice in you” which means “might be glad, exult and exist as merry within you, Jehovah God”? The Psalmist desired that Jehovah God restore him and the people of Israel so they might be glad and merry within Him.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist appealed to Jehovah God to restore him and the people of Israel so they could exult and be merry within Him. God's desire is to “save” everyone and give us a joy that exceeds all others when we believe and trust in His Son Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”. Jesus came into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and He will forgive us, grant us everlasting life and make us eternally glad when we surrender to Him.

Next time the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “show us your mercy”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
