God's Seed Established Forever - Psalms 89:4

In Psalms eighty nine Ethan the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant”, and in chapter eighty nine and verse four of Psalms Ethan shared how Jehovah God said, “your seed will I establish for ever” where we read,

Your seed will I establish for ever, and build up your throne to all generations. Selah.

The verse begins, “Your seed will I establish for ever, ...” Ethan began with the words, “your seed” or “your, David's, offspring, descendants, children and posterity” “will I establish” which means “shall I, Jehovah God, make firm, stable, fixed and securely determined” “for ever” or “for long duration, perpetually, everlasting, unto perpetuity and eternal continuance”. Ethan shared how Jehovah God promised David that He would securely determine his offspring perpetually. (See 2 Samuel 7:12-16, 29)

The verse goes on to say, “... and build up your throne to all generations. Selah.” Ethan continued with the words, “and build up your throne” or “and establish and cause to continue your, David's, royal seat of honor, dignity, authority and power” “to all generations” which means “toward each, every, the whole and everyone of the future ages, habitations, dwellings and posterity”. “Selah” or “exalt, lift up and pause to meditate upon it”. Ethan shared how Jehovah God promised David to establish his royal rule to every age and posterity, and those who read these words were to pause and meditate upon this idea.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how Ethan recalled the covenant Jehovah God made with David to fix and securely determine his rule and reign throughout all “generations”. God caused His Son Jesus to come through the lineage of David, and Jesus shall rule forever. When Jesus came, He brought salvation to mankind by dying on the cross for the sins of everyone, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to be a part of His Kingdom forever and ever. This idea is worthy of us meditating upon it and giving praise, honor, glory and thanks to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus forever.
