In Psalms chapter eighty six David said, “you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon you”, and in chapter eighty six and verse six of Psalms David said, “Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer” where we read,
Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications.
The verse begins, “Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer;” David began with the words, “Give ear” or “listen, hearken and broaden out the ear with the hand”, “O LORD” which means “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “unto my prayer” or “toward my, David's, intercession, supplication and by implication a hymn”. David called upon Jehovah God to listen to his intercession and supplication.
The verse continues, “and attend to the voice of my supplications.” David added the words, “and attend to the voice” or “and be attentive, heed, incline and pay attention to the noise and sound of uttered words” “of my supplications” which means “belonging to my, David's, entreaties for favor”. David prayed that Jehovah God would pay attention to the words of his “voice” concerning entreaty for favor to be upon him.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David made an oration to Jehovah God to listen to him and pay attention to his words of entreaty for favor. David knew Jehovah God would “hear” him, and He understood that God had the capacity to fulfill his desires better than anyone else. God wants to be our source for favor, and when we humble ourselves before Him and receive His Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will listen to what we have to say. God loves us, and this is why He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins. When we surrender to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and be attentive when we have entreaties for favor toward Him.
Next time David says, “In the day of my trouble I will call upon you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
