In Psalms eighty nine Ethan the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “You rule the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, you still them. You have broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; you have scattered your enemies with your strong arm”, and in chapter eighty nine and verse eleven of Psalms Ethan said, “the heavens are yours, the earth also” where we read,
The heavens are yours, the earth also is yours:
as for the world and the fullness thereof, you have founded them.
The verse begins, “The heavens are yours, the earth also is yours: ” Ethan began with the words, “The heavens” or “the skies, atmosphere, visible universe and abode of Jehovah God” “are yours” which means “exist as yours, Jehovah God's”, “the earth also” or “the land, country, territory, district, region and world even so and indeed” “is yours” which means “exists as yours, Jehovah God's”. Ethan shared how the sky, atmosphere, universe and dwelling of Jehovah God belong to Him.
The verse continues, “as for the world and the fullness thereof, you have founded them.” Ethan added the words, “as for the world” or “concerning, with respect to, on the subject of and in regards to the habitable earth” “and the fullness thereof” which means “and that which fills the entire contents within the world”, “you have founded them” or “you, Jehovah God, have fixed, established and laid the foundation of them, the complete contents of the world”. Ethan spoke concerning Jehovah God establishing and laying the foundation of the “world” and all it's contents.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Ethan recognized that Jehovah God possesses the “heavens, the earth and all the earth's contents”. In other words, God owns everything. God loves people, and He desires to share what He owns with everyone who will surrender their lives to His Son Jesus Christ. God sent Jesus into the world to die for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to honor Him for owning and possessing everything within which we live.
Next time Ethan the Psalmist says, “the north and the south you have created them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
