In Psalms eighty nine the Psalmist Ethan said, “God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him”, and in chapter eighty nine and verse eight of Psalms Ethan asked, “who is a strong LORD like unto you?” where we read,
O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto you? or to your faithfulness round about you?
The verse begins, “O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto you?” Ethan began with the words, “O LORD” or “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “God of hosts” which means “Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God over the army, mass and company of angels, messengers and envoys”, “who is a strong LORD” or “what person exists as a mighty Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “like unto you” which means “similar and in likeness to you, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God Jehovah”. Ethan declared Jehovah God to be the ruler over the armies of angels and asked what person was equivalent to such a mighty Jehovah God as Him.
The verse goes on to say, “or to your faithfulness round about you?” Ethan continued with the words, “or to your faithfulness” or “or toward your, Jehovah God's, firmness, fidelity, steadfastness and steadiness” “round about you” which means “encircling, encompassing and surrounding you, Jehovah God”? Ethan questioned what person possessed Jehovah God's fidelity and steadfastness surrounding them like Him.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Ethan continued to question what person or entity existed compared to Jehovah God's strength and fidelity. The answer was no one. Only God exists as the “Savior and Lord” of the world, and only He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins of all mankind. God is all-powerful, and He is faithful. When we believe and trust in His Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and reveal Himself to us over and over again as we dwell with Him throughout eternity.
Next time Psalmist says, “you rule the raging of the sea”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
