In Psalms chapter eighty six David said, “Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto you daily”, and in chapter eighty six and verse four of Psalms David said, “Rejoice the soul of your servant” where we read,
Rejoice the soul of your servant: for unto you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
The verse begins, “Rejoice the soul of your servant:” David began with the words, “Rejoice the soul” or “gladden, exult and make merry the inner man, heart, mind, will, living being, desire and seat of emotions and passions” “of your servant” which means “belonging to your, Jehovah God's, bondman, person of servile work and worshiper”. David prayed that Jehovah God would make His inner man, mind and will to be merry and gladdened because he served Him.
The verse continues, “O Lord, do I lift up my soul.” David added the words, “O Lord” or “O Adonay or reverent master”, “do I lift up my soul” which means “do I, David, bear up, carry, support and sustain my, David's, inner man, heart, mind, will, living being, desire and seat of emotions and passions”. David bore up His inner man, mind and will to his reverent master Jehovah God.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David desired that Jehovah God make his heart and mind to be merry, and he shared how he bore up his heart and mind before Him. God wants to make our “souls” glad, and He loves it when we raise up our hearts and minds to Him. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we “lift up” our “souls” before Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide for our hearts and minds like no other on earth or in Heaven.
Next time David says, “For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
