In Psalms eighty nine Ethan the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “the LORD is our defense; and the Holy One of Israel is our king”, and in chapter eighty nine and verse nineteen of Psalms Ethan said, “then you spoke in vision to your holy one” where we read,
Then you spoke in vision to your holy one, and said, I have laid help upon one that is mighty;
I have exalted one chosen out of the people.
The verse begins, “Then you spoke in vision to your holy one, and said, I have laid help upon one that is mighty;” Ethan began with the words, “then you spoke” or “therefore, wherefore, at that time and on this account you, Jehovah God, proclaimed, promised and declared” “in vision” which means “within an ecstatic state”, “to your holy one” or “toward your, Jehovah God's sacred and set apart people”, “and said” or “and uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “I have laid help” which means “I, Jehovah God, have set, placed and reckoned succor, aid and assistance” “upon one that is mighty” or “on a person who exists as powerful, strong and valiant”. Ethan shared how Jehovah God made a proclamation through an ecstatic state to His sacred people and told them how He extended and established assistance on a person who is powerful and strong.
The verse continues, “I have exalted one chosen out of the people.” Ethan added the words, “I have exalted” or “I, Jehovah God, have lifted, made lofty and raised up” “one chosen” which means “an elected or selected young man” “out of the people” or “from among the human beings both male and female”. Ethan shared how Jehovah God said He lifted and raised up a specifically selected person from among the people of Israel.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how Ethan recalled how Jehovah God spoke to the sacred people of Israel through a “vision”, and He chose one person to exalt among them. David was chosen to be the King of Israel after King Saul disobeyed God, and through David's lineage the Messiah Jesus was to come. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to forever give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God for exalting His Son Jesus among the people of Israel so we may be saved.
Next time Ethan the Psalmist says, “I have found David my servant”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
