The LORD is Our Defense - Psalms 89:18

In Psalms eighty nine Ethan the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “you are the glory of their strength: and in your favor our horn shall be exalted”, and in chapter eighty nine and verse eighteen of Psalms Ethan said, “the LORD is our defense” where we read,

For the LORD is our defense; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.

The verse begins, “For the LORD is our defense;” Ethan began with the words, “for the LORD” or “because, since and on account that Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “is our defense” which means “exists as Ethan and the people who know the joyful sound's, shield, buckler and protector”. Ethan said Jehovah God existed as his and the people who knew the joyful sound's shield and protector.

The verse goes on to say, “and the Holy One of Israel is our king.” Ethan continued with the words, “and the Holy One” or “and the set apart, saintly and ceremonially and morally sacred One” “of Israel” which means “belonging to Israel, whose name means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob” “is our king” or “exists as our, Ethan and the people who know the joyful sound's, royal ruler”. Ethan said the ceremonially and morally sacred One, Jehovah God, existed as his and the people who know the joyful sound's royal ruler.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how Ethan determined that Jehovah God existed as his and the people who knew the joyful sound's protector and royal ruler. God is Holy, and there is no error or wrong in Him. He knew mankind was filled with sin as “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (See Romans 3:23), and “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (See John 3:16). When we surrender our lives to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and be our protection and sacred royal ruler for all eternity.
