In the book of Daniel, Daniel said, “Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself”, and in chapter one and verse nine Daniel said, “God had brought Daniel into favor and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs” where we read,
Now God had brought Daniel into favor and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.
The verse reads, “Now God had brought Daniel into favor and tender love ...” Daniel began with the words, “now God”which means “at that present time God, the Supreme Deity” “had brought Daniel” or “caused, granted, bestow and permitted Daniel, whose name means God is my judge to be” “into favor” which means “in the goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “and tender love” or “and compassion, mercy and pity” with the following. Daniel shared how the Supreme Deity Jehovah caused him to receive the goodness and faithfulness according to the following.
The verse goes on to say, “... with the prince of the eunuchs.” Daniel continued with the words, “with the prince” whose name means “alongside and accompanying the ruler, leader, chief, chieftain and official” “of the eunuchs” or “pertaining to the castrated valets and chamberlains”. Daniel said “God” caused him to have the goodness, kindness, faithfulness and compassion of the leader and chief of the “eunuchs”.
When we think through the words in this verse, we discover how Daniel obtained goodness, kindness and compassion from the ruler of the “eunuchs” which would help for receiving his request. We shall see how it worked out for “Daniel”in our next few verses, but for now let us be reminded that God was the source of this favorable position. God not only created us for His pleasure, but He also knew that we would violate His laws and ways. (See Romans 3:23) This is why He sent His Only begotten Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when He raised Him from the dead after three days, as submit to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and bring favorable relationships into our lives so we may continue to please Him every day of our lives.
Next time Daniel says, “the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
