The King Communing - Daniel 1:19

In the book of Daniel, Daniel said of the chosen children of Judah, at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar”, and in Daniel chapter one and verse nineteen Daniel said, “the king communed with them” where we read,

And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.

The verse reads, And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:” Daniel began with the words, “and the king” which means “and the royal ruler and leader, Nebuchadnezzar” “communed with them” or “conversed, spoke and talked with them, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah”; “and among them all” which means “and in the midst and middle of each, every, the whole and everyone of the chosen children” “was found none like Daniel” or “was discovered not one or any children similar and in likeness to Daniel whose name means God is my judge”, “Hananiah” whose name means “God has favored”, “Mishael” or “who is what God is”, “and Azariah” whose name means”Jehovah has helped”. Daniel shared how King Nebuchadnezzar spoke with the chosen children, and in the midst of them, there were none to compare to “Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah”.

The verse continues, therefore stood they before the king.” Daniel added the words, “therefore stood they” which means “then, wherefore and on this account they, “Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah” remained, tarried, continued, persisted and were present” “before the king” or “in front of and in the presence of the royal ruler and leader Nebuchadnezzar””. Daniel shared how he, “Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah” remained in the presence of King Nebuchadnezzar.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Daniel how the chosen children of Judah were presented to King Nebuchadnezzar after being trained and learning the Chaldean language and ways for three years. King Nebuchadnezzar conversed with these children, and “Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah” excelled them all. God gave them their special skills and abilities, and they were to use them for God's Kingdom. God gives us gifts and abilities as well, and when He gave His Only Begotten Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind and raised Him from the dead after three days, He provided forgiveness of sins, eternal life and His Holy Spirit to help us employ our gifts for His Kingdom and purposes.

Next time Daniel shares about, “all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king inquired of them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
