In the book of Daniel, Daniel said, “to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, prove your servants, I beseech you, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink. Then let our countenances be looked upon before you, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as you see, deal with your servants. So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days. And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat. Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse”, and in chapter one and verse seventeen Daniel shared how, “God gave them knowledge and skill” where we read,
As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom:
and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
The verse reads, “As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom:” Daniel began with the words, “and for these four children” which means “concerning the four offspring of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah”, “God gave them knowledge” or “the Supreme Deity Jehovah granted, bestowed and assigned to them, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, thought, science and consciousness” “and skill” which means “and prudence, circumspection and wise understanding” “in all learning” or “within each, every and the whole of missives, writings, documents, the law and scrolls” “and wisdom” which means “and shrewdness, prudence and whit”. Daniel shared how Jehovah God provided “Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah” with thought, consciousness, prudence and wise understanding within every type of law and writing as well as shrewdness and whit.
The verse continues, “and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.” Daniel added the words, “and Daniel” which means “and Daniel whose name means God is my judge” “had understanding” or “possessed discernment, insight and intelligence” “in all visions” which means “within each, every, the whole and everyone of the oracles, prophesies and divine communications” “and dreams” or “and imageries, imaginations, aspirations and ambitions”. Daniel shared how he possessed discernment and intelligence in every type of oracle and prophecy as well as imageries and ambitions.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Daniel how he, “Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah” were blessed by Jehovah God with gifts of “knowledge and skill”, and he was additionally blessed with discernment and insight in oracles, prophecies, imaginations and aspirations. Because “Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah” were purposed in their hearts not to defile themselves with King Nebuchadnezzar's food and drink, God blessed them with abilities that were beyond their peers. God desires to bless all of us with His salvation from sins, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross and to be raised from the dead after three days so when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit within us so He may bestow upon us gifts to use in His Kingdom according to His Divine purpose and plan.
Next time Daniel shares what happens, “at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
