Again - Let the King Tell the Servants - Daniel 2:7

In the book of Daniel, Daniel said, in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams” and his servants said, tell your servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation. The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if you will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, you shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill. But if you show the dream, and the interpretation thereof, you shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honor: therefore show me the dream, and the interpretation thereof”, and in Daniel chapter two and verse seven Daniel shared how the Chaldeans and astrologers tell King Nebuchadnezzar, “let the king tell his servants” where we read,

They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream,

and we will show the interpretation of it.

The verse reads, They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, ...” Daniel began with the words, “they answered again and said” which means “they, the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers and the Chaldeans, replied and responded another time and uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “let the king” or “allow and permit the royal ruler and leader” “tell his servants the dream” which means “say, speak and declare his, King Nebuchadnezzar's, mental imagery to his bondmen, slaves and men of servile condition”. Daniel shared how the “magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers and the Chaldeans” responded to King Nebuchadnezzar by asking him once again to declare his “dream” to his “men of servile condition”.

The verse goes on to say, and we will show the interpretation of it.” Daniel continued with the words, “and we will show” which means “and we, the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers and the Chaldeans, shall reveal, inform and declare” “the interpretation of it” or “the meaning and rendering of it, the dream”. Daniel shared how the “magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers and the Chaldeans” said they would declare the meaning of King Nebuchadnezzar's mental imagery after he told it to them.

When we think through the words in this verse, we discover through Daniel that the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers and the Chaldeans” were delaying giving an answer to King Nebuchadnezzar's command, and this exposes their lack of being able to fulfill his desire. God reserved this ability for Himself, and we shall see how He reveals this to Daniel in later verses, but for now let us consider that God is omniscient and nothing is hidden from Him. He knows we “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (See Romans 3:23), and those sins lead to death. (See Romans 6:23) For this reason God sent His Only Begotten Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and He resurrected Him from the grave after three days. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us the assurance through His Holy Spirit that He is omniscient and always in control even when we wonder if He is.

Next time Daniel shares how King Nebuchadnezzar tells the Chaldeans, “I know of certainty that you would gain the time”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
