In the book of Daniel, Daniel said, “As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams”, and in chapter one and verse eighteen Daniel shared what happened, “at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in” where we read,
Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in,
then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
The verse reads, “Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, ...” Daniel began with the words, “now at the end of the days” which means “at that time within the completion and finishing pertaining to the sunrises and sunsets” “that the king had said” or “that the royal ruler and leader uttered, declared and proclaimed” “he should bring them in” which means “he, Ashpenaz the overseer of the eunuchs, ought to lead them, the chosen children, into his presence” the following occurred. Daniel shared how the “days” of training for the chosen children of Judah were completed, and the time had come for Ashpenaz to lead them into the presence of King Nebuchadnezzar.
The verse goes on to say, “... then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.” Daniel continued with the words, “then the prince” which means “at that time the ruler, leader and overseer” “of the eunuchs” or “belonging to the ruler, leader, chief, chieftain and overseer, Ashpenaz, of the castrated valets or chamberlains” “brought them in” which means “carried and lead Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah and the other chosen children in” “before Nebuchadnezzar” or “in front and in the presence of Nebuchadnezzar whose name means may Nebo protect the crown”. Daniel said at that time the overseer of the chamberlains lead them into the presence of King “Nebuchadnezzar”.
When we meditate upon words in this verse, we learn through Daniel that the fulfilling of the three years of training for the chosen children of Judah had come, and it was time for their presentation before King Nebuchadnezzar. “Ashpenaz”, the overseer of the “eunuchs” lead them into the King's presence. This too was a part of God's plan for the salvation of mankind. Because everyone sins and comes short of the glory of God, (See Romans 3:23) and the penalty for those sins is death, (See Romans 6:23) “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus) that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”. (See John 3:16) Even the events and circumstances of Daniel led to this, and when we put our faith and trust in Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth and empower us to live according to that truth which will please Him and fulfill His purpose for our lives. (See John 16:13; Acts 1:8)
Next time Daniel says, “the king communed with them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
