In Psalms chapter seventy-eight Asaph shared how the people of Israel in the wilderness, “tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust. Yes, they spoke against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people? Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel. Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation. Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven, and had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven”, and in chapter seventy-eight and verse twenty-five of Psalms Asaph shared how, “man did eat angels' food” where we read,
Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full.
The verse begins, “Man did eat angels' food:” Asaph began with the words, “man did eat” or “people both male and female ate, consumed and devoured” “angels' food” which means “the nourishment and sustenance of strong, mighty, valiant and chief heavenly messengers and envoys”. Asaph said the “manna” provided to the people of Israel in the wilderness was the food of mighty heavenly messengers.
The verse continues, “he sent them meat to the full.” Asaph added the words, “he sent them meat” or “he, Jehovah God, stretched forth, extended and directed food, provision, venison or victuals” “to the full” which means “to satiety, abundance and fullness”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God provided food to the people of Israel in the wilderness until they were satiated.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how Jehovah God provided so much food to the people of Israel while they were in the wilderness that they were constantly satisfied. However, this was not enough for them, and they complained. God knows what we need, and He is able to supply more than we could ask. He sent His Son Jesus to satisfy the hunger within our souls by dying on the cross to pay the price for our sins, and when we yield to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide our every need according to His riches in glory. (See Philippians 4:19)
Next time Asaph shares how, “He caused an eat wind to blow in the heaven”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
