Remembering God is Their Rock - Psalms 78:35

In Psalms chapter seventy-eight Asaph shared when Jehovah God provided food and water for the people of Israel in the wilderness, “for all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works. Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble. When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and inquired early after God”, and in chapter seventy-eight and verse thirty-five of Psalms Asaph shared how, “they remembered that God was their rock” where we read,

And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.

The verse begins, And they remembered that God was their rock, ... Asaph began with the words, “and they remembered” or “and they, the people of Israel in the wilderness, called to mind, recalled and brought to their memories” “that God was their rock” which means “that the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God existed as their, the people of Israel in the wilderness', block of stone, boulder or strong foundation or refuge”. Asaph said the people of Israel in the wilderness brought to their memories that Jehovah God existed as their strong foundation.

The verse continues, “... and the high God their redeemer. Asaph added the words, “and the high God” or “and the exalted and uppermost One True Jehovah God of power and might existed as” “their redeemer” which means “their, the people of Israel in the wilderness', avenger, kinsman and deliverer”. Asaph said the people of Israel also recalled how Jehovah God existed as their avenger and deliverer.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see through Asaph after Jehovah God's judgment fell upon the people of Israel in the wilderness, they recalled that He was their powerful and mighty “God”. They forgot God, and they turned away from His ways. They failed to believe in Him, and because He seemed to have forsaken them, they turned against His ways. God, however, desired to continue to be in a relationship with them, and He desires the same for us today. Regardless of how far away from God we seem, He is always near, and He is willing to forgive every person who believes in His Son Jesus as their “Savior and Lord”. God sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we turn and submit to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and always accompany us no matter where we go or what we encounter.

Next time Asaph shares how, “they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
