Fed According to the Integrity of God's Heart - Psalms 78:72

In Psalms chapter seventy-eight Asaph reminded the people of Israel when they journeyed through the wilderness how they “provoked” God, and “He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds. From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people,  and Israel his inheritance”, and in chapter seventy-eight and verse seventy-two of Psalms Asaph said Jehovah God, “fed them according to the integrity of his heart”, where we read,

So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.

The verse begins, So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; Asaph began with the words, “so he fed them” or “therefore, then and on this account he, Jehovah God, pastured, tended to and grazed them, the people of Israel” “according to the integrity” which means “toward the completeness, fullness and simplicity” “of his heart” or “pertaining to his, Jehovah God's, mind, will, understanding, knowledge, thinking, reflection, determination and conscience”. Asaph said Jehovah God supplied the people of Israel in the wilderness with what they needed according to His completeness and fullness.

The verse goes on to say,and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands. Asaph continued with the words, “and guided them” or “and transported and led them, the people of Israel” “by the skillfulness” which means “through the means of the understanding, insight, intelligence and knowledge” “of his hands” or “pertaining to his, Jehovah God's, hands of power, might, strength and authority”. Asaph said Jehovah God led the people of Israel in the wilderness by the means of His power, might, knowledge and intelligence.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how Jehovah God did not depend upon the power and ability of the people of Israel to lead them through the wilderness. Instead He relied upon His own completeness, authority and intelligence. God knows all, sees all and is everywhere present, and no one is able to lead us like Him. He chose to send His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and He raised Him from the dead three days later. This provided access for everyone to have an opportunity to be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life if they rely upon, cling to and trust in Him. God knows how to guide us, and through His word, the Bible, we have been led to His Son Jesus according to the “integrity of His heart”.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see Asaph say, “O God, the heathen are come into your inheritance”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
