In Psalms chapter seventy-nine Asaph asked, “How long, LORD? will you be angry for ever? shall your jealousy burn like fire?”, and in chapter seventy-nine and verse six of Psalms Asaph said, “pour out your wrath upon the heathen that have not known you”, where we read,
Pour out your wrath upon the heathen that have not known you,
and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon your name.
The verse begins, “Pour out your wrath upon the heathen that have not known you, ...” Asaph began with the words, “pour out your wrath” or “shed, spill and sprawl out your, Jehovah God's, heat, rage, hot displeasure, indignation and anger” “upon the heathen” which means “on the foreign, non-Hebrew and unbelieving nations” “that have not known you” or “who in no way have perceived, discern, discriminated and acknowledged you, Jehovah God”. Asaph desired that Jehovah God shed His anger and indignation upon the foreign, non-Hebrew and unbelieving people who had no perception or understanding of Him.
The verse goes on to say, “... and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon your name.” Asaph continued with the words, “and upon the kingdoms” or “and on the dominions, reigns, realms and sovereignties” “that have not called” which means “who have in no way chose, summoned or cried out” “upon your name” or “on your, Jehovah God's, reputation, fame and glory”. Asaph continued his request for Jehovah God to shed forth his anger upon the dominions and realms in the world who have not cried out to Jehovah God's fame, reputation and glory.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how Asaph appealed to Jehovah God to be “angry” at unbelieving people and the realms who did not cry out to Him. There are nations of people who refuse and reject God's Son Jesus as their “Savior and Lord”, and Jesus will divide them like sheep and goats. Jesus said, “When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:” (See Matthew 25:31-34) The time for calling out to Jehovah God through His Son Jesus is now, and He alone is able to grant forgiveness of sins and eternal life because He died on the cross for our sins. Let all who read these words yield their lives to Jesus Christ and never experience the eternal “wrath” of Jehovah God.
Next time Asaph says, “they have devoured Jacob”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
