In Psalms chapter eighty Asaph said to Jehovah God, “You make us a strife unto our neighbors: and our enemies laugh among themselves. Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause your face to shine; and we shall be saved”, and in chapter eighty and verse eight of Psalms Asaph said to Jehovah God, “you have brought a vine out of Egypt”, where we read,
You have brought a vine out of Egypt: you have cast out the heathen, and planted it.
The verse begins, “You have brought a vine out of Egypt:” Asaph began with the words, “you have brought a vine” or “you, Jehovah God, pulled, set forth and removed a bending or twining vine such as a grape vine” “out of Egypt” which means “from out of Egypt whose name means land of the Copts and is a country at the northeastern section of Africa, adjacent to Palestine, and through which the Nile flows”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God delivered the people of Israel like a twining vine from the land of “Egypt”.
The verse continues, “you have cast out the heathen, and planted it.” Asaph added the words, “you have cast out the heathen” or “you, Jehovah God, have thrust away, expelled and tossed out the foreign, non-Hebrews, Gentiles and pagans”, “and planted it” which means “and fashioned, fixed and established the people of Israel”. Asaph referred to how Jehovah God delivered the people of Israel from the pagan country of “Egypt” and established them in their own land.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how Asaph recalled when Jehovah God delivered the people of Israel from the pagan land of “Egypt” and delivered them to dwell in their own land. God preserved His people, and He provided for them. God is a compassionate and loving God who desires to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, liberate us from pagan ways, grant us eternal life and establish us in the world where He wants us to be.
Next time Asaph says to Jehovah God, “you prepared room before it”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
