In Psalms chapter seventy-nine Asaph said, “O God, the heathen are come into your inheritance; your holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps. The dead bodies of your servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of your saints unto the beasts of the earth”, and in chapter seventy-nine and verse three of Psalms Asaph said, “Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem”, where we read,
Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.
The verse begins, “Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem;” Asaph began with the words, “their blood” or “the blood in the bodies of the servants and saints of Jehovah God” “have they shed like water” which means “have they, the foreign non-Hebrew people have poured out, spilled and expended” “round about Jerusalem” or “all around Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split”. Asaph said the foreign non-Hebrew and heathen people poured out and spilled the “blood” of the people of Israel all around the city of “Jerusalem”.
The verse continues, “and there was none to bury them.” Asaph added the words, “and there was none” or “and there existed not one person among the people of Israel” “to bury them” which means “to inter the people of Israel”. Asaph said there was not a single person who interred the dead bodies of the people of Israel.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Asaph not only how the foreign invaders in Israel spilled the blood of the people of Israel all around the city of Jerusalem, but also that no one was found to put their bodies in the ground. Oh what carnage. Oh what bloodshed, and Oh what devastation which came upon the people of Israel all because they forsook Jehovah God. God loves people, and He invites them to have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of everyone. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sin, grant us everlasting life and keep us protected from those who would destroy us in this life and in the life to come according to His perfect plan and will.
Next time Asaph says, “we are become a reproach to our neighbors”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
