In Psalms chapter eighty Asaph said to Jehovah God, “You have brought a vine out of Egypt: you have cast out the heathen, and planted it. You prepared room before it, and did cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land. The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars”, and in chapter eighty and verse eleven of Psalms Asaph said, “she sent out her boughs unto the sea”, where we read,
She sent out her boughs unto the sea, and her branches unto the river.
The verse begins, “She sent out her boughs unto the sea, ...” Asaph began with the words, “she sent out her boughs” or “she, the land of Israel, dispatched and assigned, her strong branches and limbs” “unto the sea” which means “toward the large body of water such as the Mediterranean Sea”. Asaph said the reach of the land of Israel was extended to the Mediterranean Sea.
The verse goes on to say, “... and her branches unto the river.” Asaph continued with the words, “and her branches” or “and her, the land of Israel, sprouts, twigs and tender branches” “unto the river” which means “to the stream, flood or river such as the Euphrates”. Asaph said the land of Israel was also stretched out to the great Euphrates river.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how Jehovah God set the boundaries of the land of Israel. The land was to stretch from the Mediterranean Sea to the Euphrates river. This was God's desire for the people of Israel, and when they made Him first in their lives, they would occupy that space. God desires to be in an intimate, personal relationship with every person, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind for that to be. When we surrender to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and assign to us His space, purpose and plan for our lives. Let us give praise, honor and glory to God for His provision for us both in this life and the life to come.
Next time Asaph asks Jehovah God, “why have you then broken down her hedges”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
