Seek the Kingdom of God - Luke 12:31

Luke the beloved physician wrote how Jesus said, “seek not you what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, neither be you of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knows that you have need of these things”, and in chapter twelve and verse thirty-one of his book Luke shared how Jesus said, “seek you the kingdom of God” where we read:

But rather seek you the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

The verse reads, “But rather seek you the kingdom of God; Luke began with the words, “but rather” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover besides and instead” “seek you” which means “aim for, strive after, require and crave” “the kingdom of God” or “the royal power, rule, reign, kingship and dominion belonging to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Luke shared how Jesus instructed the people listening to Him to “desire and strive after” God's Kingdom.

The verse continues, “and all these things shall be added unto you.” Luke added the words, “and all these things” or “and each, every, the whole and everything pertaining to food, drink and clothing” “shall be added” which means “will be joined, gathered and increased” “unto you” or “toward the people listening”. Luke shared how Jesus told the people “all” of their need for “food, drink and clothing” would be provided to them when they made God's Kingdom first in their lives.

When we think through Luke's words in this verse, we learn the key for having everything we need to be supplied to us. People who make “God's Kingdom” their primary focus, will discover how God will supply their every need. Paul the apostle told the church in Philippi, my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19), and those who are wise will yield their lives to Jesus, make God the Father's Kingdom a priority and receive from Him everything they shall ever need.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus says, “it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
