What the Nations Seek After - Luke 12:30

The beloved physician Luke wrote how Jesus said, “seek not you what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, neither be you of doubtful mind”, and in chapter twelve and verse thirty of his book Luke shared how Jesus says, “for all these things do the nations of the world seek after” where we read:

For all these things do the nations of the world seek after:

and your Father knows that you have need of these things.

The verse reads, “For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: Luke began with the words, “for all these things” or “because, since and on account that each, every, the whole and everything pertaining to eating, drinking and being doubtful” “do the nations of the world” which means “do the multitudes, companies, troops, swarms, tribes and people groups belonging to the earth” “seek after” or “wish for, crave, demand and clamor for”. Luke shared how Jesus said the people groups of the “world” desire and crave things to “eat, drink and wherewith to be clothed”.

The verse goes on to say, “and your Father knows that you have need of these things.” Luke continued with the words, “and your Father knows” or “and God the Father in Heaven is aware perceives, notices, discerns and discovers that the people who are listening to Him” “that you have need” which means “that the people listening to Jesus have necessity” “of these things” or “pertaining to food, drink and clothing”. Luke shared how Jesus said God the Father in Heaven is aware that people “need” “food, drink and clothing”.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we see how Jesus distinguishes the “nations” or “multitudes of people” from those who trust in, rely upon and cling to God. God is the Creator of mankind, and He knows what it takes to sustain them. He provides food, drink and clothing so they may sustain life, and He provided His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross to supply what every person needs “spiritually” to live with Him forever. Those who are wise will know how God the Father will take care of them physically and yield their lives to Him to be forgiven of their sins and receive “everlasting life” in the “spirit”.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus says, “see you the kingdom of God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
