The
Hebrew writer shared how “the word of God is quick, and
powerful, and sharper than a two-edged sword”,
and it is able to “divide”
even the “soul and spirit”
of people. In chapter four and verse thirteen of Hebrews we
see how “all things are naked and open unto the eyes of”
God where we read:
Neither is
there any creature that is not manifest in his sight:
The
verse begins, “Neither is there any creature that is not
manifest in his sight:” The
writer began with the words, “Neither”
which means “also, even and indeed” “is there”
or “which questions the validity or example of” “any
creature” which means “one
particular creation or thing created” “that is not
manifest” or “hidden or
non-apparent” “in his sight” which
means “within God's presence, before Him and upon which He turns
His eyes”. There is nothing within creation God does not see.
The
verse continues, “but all things are naked and opened
unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do”.
The writer added, “but”
which is a disassociation
conjunction that means what is about to be written takes precedence
over what was previously state” “all things”
or “each, every, the whole, everyone and everything” “are
naked” which means “unclad,
without clothing, open and bare” “and opened”
or “laid bare, uncovered and exposed” “unto the eyes”
or “the objects used for sight and the faculties of the mind and
knowing” “of him”
which refers to “God” “with whom” or
“who is the one with”
“we have to do” which
means “we give account, regard and consideration to in matters of
speech, doctrine, teaching, deeds and events”. There is nothing
“hidden” from the “eyes”
of God before “whom”
we live every day.
When
we meditate upon these words in Hebrews, we see how nothing that has
been created by God can hide itself from His view. He sees all and
knows all, and everything and everyone are “open and exposed”
before Him. Sometimes we encounter clandestine venues in others and
even in ourselves, and we may think they or we are hiding them. These
words by the Hebrew writer show us they and we are not, and that God
is an omniscient God who knows and sees all. Is it any wonder that we
need Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord? The word of God “exposes”
our sins, and when we acknowledge and turn from them while believing
and trusting in Jesus Christ who paid for all of them, we are saved.
May all who read these words know there is nothing that they hide
from God, and yet, He is willing to save, forgive and cleanse from
anything we think and do before Him.
Next
time we see
the writer share how “we
have a great high priest” - “Jesus”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
