According
to the writer of Hebrews, Jesus, God's Son, was fit and eminent “for
whom are all things” and
“by whom are all things”
because he was to bring
“many sons unto glory”
and be made “captain of their salvation perfect through
sufferings”. In
chapter two and verse eleven of Hebrews the writer continues to share
about Jesus and those He has come to save as he refers to “sanctified
ones” where we read:
for which
cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
The
verse begins, “
For both he that sanctifies and they who
are sanctified are
all of one:”
The writer began with the words, “For
both”
which refers to “because, even, indeed, no doubt, seeing then,
therefore, not only and but also” “he
that sanctifies”
or “the one who renders hallow, holy, purified and cleansed”,
“and they who are sanctified”
which refers to “the ones who are hallow, holy, purified and
cleansed” “are all of one”
which means “are each, every, any, the whole and every one of same
likeness”. Both the one who “sanctifies”
and the “sanctified” or
“consecrated” are as “one”.
The
verse goes on to say, “ for which cause he is not ashamed
to call them brethren” The
writer continued, “for which cause”
or “because, even, indeed, no doubt, seeing then and therefore this
particular reason and accusation” “he is not ashamed”
which means “Jesus does not feel shame” “to call”
or “utter, name or salute” “them brethren”
which means “fellow believers who are united to another by the bond
of affection”. Because Jesus and His “consecrated” people are
as “one”, He is not “ashamed”
to call them “united believers” through this “bond”
of love.
When
we meditate upon these words in Hebrews, we understand the love and
connection the Lord Jesus desires to have with people. He is not only
the “sanctified” or set apart for a specific purpose, one,
but He has “set apart” or “consecrated” people for Himself.
He wants to be one with us and considered His “brethren”.
Oh that people would understand the marvelous union that God Almighty
desires to have with them through a relationship with His “only
begotten Son” Jesus.
Next
time we see
the writer share how God “will
declare your name unto my brethren”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
