The
writer of Hebrews asked his readers to “consider the
Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus”,
as he gave reason after reason why Jesus could identify with and help
people in their “trials”, and in chapter three and
verse two of Hebrews we see how Jesus was “faithful to him that
appointed him” where we read:
The
verse begins, “Who was faithful to him that
appointed him,...” The
writer began with the words, “Who was faithful”
which means “Jesus being and coming to be trusty, worthy of trust
and relied upon” “to him that appointed him”
or “made, produced, constructed and fashioned by God”. Jesus was
“worthy of trust and reliable” to God who “appointed
him”.
The
verse goes on to say, “...as also
Moses was faithful
in all his house.”
The writer continued, “as also Moses”
whose name means “drawing out” and was “the legislator of the
Jewish people and in a certain sense the founder of the Jewish
religion” “was faithful” or
“trusty, worthy of trust and relied upon” “in
all his house” which
refers to “Moses' habitation, palace, tabernacle and dwelling
place”. Even as Moses was “faithful”
to his “appointment” by God, Jesus was “faithful”
in His as well.
When
we meditate upon these words in Hebrews, we understand the importance
of being “faithful” to the “appointment” God
has given us. Moses was “faithful” to his call, and Jesus
who was the Creator of “all things” was also “faithful”
to His. This is beneficial to us Jesus Christ is the “faithful”
Savior and Lord of all who will believe in, rely upon, trust in and
cling to Him. Let all who read these words know and understand the
“faithfulness” of Jesus.
Next
time we see
the writer share how Jesus “was
counted worthy of more glory than Moses”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
