The writer of
Hebrews asked his readers to “consider the Apostle and High
Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus” because God “was
faithful to him that appointed him”. Jesus, God's Son,“was
counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who has built
the house has more honor than the house” and in chapter three
and verse four of Hebrews we see how “he that built all things
is God” where we read:
The
verse begins, “For
every house is built by some man;”
The
writer began with the word “For”
which means “as, because, even, indeed, no doubt, seeing then and
therefore” “every house”
or “each, any, all and the whole of the the inhabited palace, home,
tabernacle or dwelling place” “is
built” which
means “the one who furnishes, equips, prepares and makes ready”
“by some man” which
refers to “a certain person or human being”. The writer desires
for his readers to consider how the dwelling places of people have
been “built”
by someone.
The
verse goes on to say, “but he that
built all things is
God.” The
writer added the word, “But”
which is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be
written takes precedence over what was just stated “he
that built”
or “the one who furnishes, equips, prepares and makes ready” “all
things”
which refers to “each, every, any, the whole and everyone
collectively” “is God”
who is “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God
the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. God was the One
who “created” or “made ready” everything that is made. In
addition to “houses”
that have been “built”
by someone, the writer wants us to consider who “built”
everything there is.
When
we think through these words in Hebrews, we understand the greatness
and superiority of Jesus over anyone who has “built” anything
in this world. Though men and women “build” things such as
houses, buildings or palaces, Jesus is the “creator” and
“builder” of everything that exists. We should be excited to know
such a one as Jesus, and when we consider that this “master
builder” desires to have a relationship with us, our resounding
answer should be “YES”!
Next
time we see
the writer share how God “in
the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
