Mark wrote how Jesus said, “there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power”. Afterward Mark continued by writing, “after six days Jesus took with him Peter, and James, and John, and lead them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them”, and in chapter nine and verse three of his book, Mark shared how Jesus', “raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow” where we read:
And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.
The verse reads, “And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow;” Mark began with the words, “and his raiment” which means “and Jesus' outer garment, cloak or mantle” “became shining” or “was made and appeared as glistening and gleaming”, “exceeding white” which means “greatly, sorely and very white in color”“as snow” which means “like the color of snow”. Mark shared how Jesus' clothing appeared and became a “glistening and gleaming” white color like “snow”.
The verse goes on to say, “so as no fuller on earth can white them.” Mark continued with the words, “so as no fuller” which means “in a manner that no clothes dresser” “on earth” or “upon the arable land, region, ground or territory” “can white them” which means “is able to whiten or make them”. Mark shared how no “clothes dresser or cleaner” was able to make garments as bright and shining white as Jesus' clothes were when He was transfigured.
When we consider Mark's words in this verse, we discover the reason Jesus took His disciples to the “high mountain”. He was to be “transfigured” before them so they could observe Him in His “glorified” state. Jesus has more to show them, but for now let it suffice for now to know Jesus has this “glorified” life awaiting every person who will yield to Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, and when they “believe and trust” in Him, they too shall receive a “glorified” body which shall last for all eternity.
Next time Mark shares how, “there appeared unto them Elias with Moses”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
