Jabin Sends to Other Kings - Joshua 11:2

In the book of Joshua, we learned how, “it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph”, and in chapter eleven and verse two of the book of Joshua, we learn how Jabin also sent to, “the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains” where we read,

And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west,

The verse reads, “And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth,…” Joshua or the writer began with the words, “and to the kings” which means “and toward the royal rulers and leaders” “that were on the north” or “who existed in the northern direction” “of the mountains” which means “pertaining to the risings above the plain”, “and of the plains” or “and pertaining to the wilderness, desert or sterile valley” “south of Chinneroth” which means “in the southern direction pertaining to Chinneroth or Cinneroth or Chinnereth whose name means ‘harps’ and was a town and district in Naphtali near the Sea of Galilee”. Joshua or the writer shared how “Jabin” also contacted the royal rulers in the risings above the plains in the northern direction and the wilderness or sterile valley which was in the southern direction of “Chinneroth”

The verse continues, “… and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west,” Joshua or the writer added the words, “and in the valley”  which means “and in the lowland or low country”, “and in the borders of Dor” or “and within the belonging to the lofty place, coast or sieve belonging to  Dor whose name means ‘generation” which was a coastal city in Manasseh which was south of Carmel” “on the west” which means “in the western direction”. Joshua or the writer shared how “Jabin” also sent word to the royal rulers within the lowland and the costal area which belonged “Dor” which was located in a westward direction.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how “Jabin” continued to assemble royal rulers from locations throughout the promise land. Although he thought his plan would help him defeat the people of Israel, we shall see how they were being assembled for Israel to conquer them. Jehovah God was on Israel’s side, and regardless of how many “kings” and people gathered together, they would not be able to defeat Him. God wants this type of relationship with us as well, and when we surrender our lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead after three days, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit within us to guide us into all truth and empower us to live according to that truth regardless of how many people rise us against us.

Next time we learn how “Jabin” also sent to, “the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
