In the book of Joshua, we learned how, “these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other western side of Jordan” which included, “the kings of Jericho, Ai, which is beside Bethel, Jarmuth, and Lachish, Eglon and Gezer, Debir, and Geder, Hormah, Arad, Libnah, Adullam, Makkedah, Bethel, Aphek and Lasharon, Aphek and Lasharon”, and in chapter twelve and verse nineteen of Joshua we discover how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Madon” and “the king of Hazor” where we read,
The king of Madon,, one; the king of Hazor, one;
The verse reads, “The king of Madon, one;” Joshua or the writer began with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Madon” or “belonging to Madon whose name means ‘strife’ and was one of the principal cities of Canaan who joined Jabin and his confederates in their battle against Joshua at the waters of Merom and were defeated”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer shared how the royal ruler and region of “Madon” were among the territories occupied by “Joshua” and “Israel”.
The verse continues, “the king of Hazor”; one;” Joshua or the writer continued with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Hazor” or “belonging to Hazor whose name means ‘castle’ and was one of the cities of Judah in the extreme south”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer included the royal leader and land belonging to “Hazor” were also among the territories conquered by “Joshua” and the people of “Israel”.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we discover the names of two more of the royal rulers and territories which were occupied by “Israel”. “Madon” and “Hazor” and their leaders were defeated by “Joshua” and the army of “Israel”, and now they were to dwell within their lands. God did this for “Israel” because He loves them, and even as He provides for them, He will also provide for anyone who will yield their life to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead after three days. When we align with His way of salvation through Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth and give us the wisdom to know when to engage in spiritual battle and when to receive that which He has given to us.
Next time we see how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Shimronmeron” and “the king of Achshaph”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
