In the book of Joshua, we learned how, “these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other western side of Jordan” which included, “the kings of Jericho, Ai, which is beside Bethel, Jarmuth, and Lachish, Eglon and Gezer, Debir, and Geder, Hormah and Arad”, and in chapter twelve and verse fifteen of Joshua we discover how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Libnah” and “the king of Adullam” where we read,
The king of Libnah, one; the king of Adullam, one;
The verse reads, “The king of Libnah, one;” Joshua or the writer began with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Libnah” or “belonging to Libnah whose name means ‘pavement’ and was a royal city of the Canaanites in the southwest captured by Joshua; allocated to Judah and made a Levitical city; site unknown”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer shared how Jehovah God gave the royal ruler belonging to “Libnah” to “Joshua” and the people of “Israel”.
The verse goes on to say, “the king of Adullam”; one;” Joshua or the writer continued with the words, “the king” which means “the royal ruler and leader” “of Adullam” or “belonging to Adullam whose name means ‘justice of the people’ and was a town of the Canaanites allotted to Judah and lying in the lowlands; site of the cave where David hid”, “one” which means “a single royal ruler and leader”. Joshua or the writer shared how “Joshua” and the people of “Israel” also overtook the royal ruler and territory belonging to “Adullam”.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how Jehovah God also provided the territories which were ruled by “Libnah” and “Adullum” to the people of “Israel”. One by one God was giving the people of “Israel” the promise land, and He has given us the promise of eternal life when we yield to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead after three days. As we put our faith and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit within us to guide us into all truth and help us to inherit all He has for us in His Kingdom. (See John 3:16)
Next time we see how “Israel” conquered, “the king of Makkedah” and “the king of Bethel”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
