After Jesus is Risen - Mark 14:28

Mark wrote after Jesus and His disciples, “sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. And Jesus said unto them, All of you shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered”, and in chapter fourteen and verse twenty-eight of his book, Mark shared how Jesus said, “after that I am risen, I will go before you”, where we read:

But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.

The verse reads, “But after that I am risen, ...” Mark began with the words, “But after” which means “however, nevertheless, notwithstanding, moreover after the time” “that I am risen” or “when Jesus is arisen from the grave, resurrected and back to life”. Mark shared how Jesus began to speak about what He would do after He was “resurrected” from the dead.

The verse goes on to say, “... I will go before you into Galilee. Mark continued with the words, “I will go before you” which means “Jesus will precede, lead forth and go forward in advance of His disciples” “into Galilee” or “into the area of Galilee which means circuit and is the name of a region of northern Palestine, bounded on the north by Syria, on the west by Sidon, Tyre, Ptolemais and their territories and the promontory of Carmel, on the south by Samaria and on the east by the Jordan”. Mark shared how Jesus told His disciples He would proceed them to the area of “Galilee”.

When we consider Mark's words in this verse, we see how Jesus told His disciples about His resurrection from the dead in advance of Him dying. Jesus knew the path before Him, and because His disciples would be sad and discouraged at His death, He gave them words of hope for seeing Him again. God desires for all people to have “hope” in Him that comes through a relationship with His Son Jesus Christ. Those who put their faith and trust in Jesus shall certainly see Jesus one day as He has “gone in advance” to Heaven where He will gather all His believers to be with Him. Let all who read these words understand and believe.

Next time Mark shares how Peter says, “Although all shall be offended, yet will not I”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
